A low cost alternative to zinc Lorin Industries - AnoZinc® I & II with Alcoa Tectur-Al™

Lorin Industries is a global leader in aluminum coil anodizing within the architectural market. Lorin's anodized aluminum can be found worldwide on many iconic buildings like the New Orleans Superdome. Offering over 60 years of infinite possibilities in aluminum finishing solutions Lorin provides options in colors, finishes, and textures. A few of the our market leading products are ColorIn®, ClearMatt®, ClearBrite®, and BrassBrite®.

Indiana State University- Terre Haute, IN new student housing complex is a recently completed project using Lorin products. Located at 500 Wabash Ave, Terre Haute, IN. The 128,547 ft² mixed-use retail/housing complex has five floors, four of which are designated for student housing and one (bottom floor) designated for retail/office space. The residential space for ISU students consists of 75 apartment units and a few studio apartments. The complex is just one block from the University, which is home to over 14,600 students, faculty and staff.

The design team from RATIO Architects, Indianapolis, IN used Omega-Lite ACM panels using AnoZinc® I & II with Alcoa Tectur-Al™ anodized aluminum from Lorin Industries. RAM Indiana, Arcadia, IN installed and fabricated over 9,800 ft² of Laminators Inc. Omega-Lite panels in custom AnoZinc® I & II. The anodized aluminum simulates the real look and beauty of zinc. The benefits of using anodized aluminum out shine the competition in that anodized aluminum does not crack, peel, or flake and is workable and bendable at temperatures below 40° F. If you want the look of real zinc, but do not want all the problems and high costs associated, try AnoZinc® I & II, they deliver.

On the design side, a key aspect required continuity of the facade panel system, so an exact match finish on the panel, joint, and termination elements was mandatory. This was accomplished by "wrapping" the extrusion moldings with the same AnoZinc® I & II used to manufacture the ACM panels. The result is a pleasing reveal joint ACM panel system. By wrapping the perimeter moldings with the AnoZinc® I & II, general contractor, Thompson Thrift, Terre Haute, IN was able to meet design, budget and constructability goals.

For your next project that requires creative aesthetics, custom colors, and innovative high quality finishes that won't crack, peel or flake, come talk to Lorin. Our team is committed to providing value through high quality products, innovative solutions, and superior service and support.
